Info
The Balmain Sailing Club was initially established in October 1885 and reformed in 1995. The club is a family oriented club which
has training, racing, cruising and social programs. The club currently has around 500 members and races a keelboat fleet and a
dinghy fleet. The keelboat fleet races as a single division on Sundays, and as two divisions in the Friday Twilight Series during
summer. The dinghy fleet races in one division.
Location
The Balmain Sailing Club is situated on Water Street, Balmain. The club has water-front access directly into Sydney Harbour. Its facilities include a bar, a BBQ area and boat storage.
Balmain Regatta
The Balmain Regatta is hosted by the Balmain Sailing Club and is held once a year on the first day of daylight saving time. The Balmain Regatta is thought to be one of the oldest regattas in Australia. The event includes classic 18 and 10 foot skiff,
dinghy and yacht races and is a celebration of the local community connection with Sydney Harbour and the local boat building industry.
Current Projects
The Balmain Sailing Club just lately started up a sailing school for adults and children in both dinghies and yachts. Visit the Sailing
School for more information.
